One Last Massive OSS XL Sunday: $4.5M in Main Event Guarantees Lead September 27

wpnadmin 6 min read

The final Sunday of the $50M+ OSS XL puts two huge Main Event flights, the biggest buy-in of Second Mortgage Week and a late leaderboard push on the same ACR Poker schedule.

If you have been waiting for one day that sums up what the OSS XL is all about, Sunday, September 27 has a strong case.

The final Sunday of ACR Poker’s $50M+ series puts the last starting flights of its two biggest Main Events on the same schedule, with $4.5 million in combined guarantees between them. That would already be enough to build a full session around. Instead, ACR is also dropping the largest buy-in of Second Mortgage Week, bringing the $66 Main Event back for its play-to-completion Day 2 and filling the rest of the lobby with everything from four-figure buy-ins to $1.65 events.

This is not just another big Sunday. It is the point where several of the biggest storylines of the OSS XL all arrive at once.

$4.5 Million in Main Event Guarantees Take Center Stage

The obvious place to start is with the two Main Events carrying $4.5 million in combined guarantees.

The $2,650 Main Event carries a $2.5 million guarantee, while the $1,050 edition puts another $2 million on the line. September 27 is Day 1B for both tournaments and, more importantly, the final starting flight. Survive Sunday and you move on to Day 2 on Monday, September 28. The final tables for both events are scheduled for Tuesday, September 29.

That makes Sunday the last chance to build a stack in either of the two biggest Main Events in the series. If you skipped Day 1A, there is still a way in. If you already took a shot and did not make it through, there is one more flight waiting.

For players who have spent most of the month working around the edges of the OSS XL schedule, September 27 is where the two biggest guarantees stop being something on the calendar and become a now-or-never decision.

The $66 Main Event Is Ready to Finish the Job

There is a third Main Event on Sunday’s schedule, but its starting flights are already complete.

The $66 Main Event returns for Day 2 with a $500,000 prize pool and plays all the way to completion. ACR Poker covered a substantial overlay in the event, so the remaining players will return to compete for their shares of the $500,000 prize pool.

That gives the final OSS XL Sunday a nice split. Some players will be trying to survive a starting flight in the $1,050 or $2,650 Main Events. Others will already be in the money hunt in the $66 edition, playing until a champion is crowned.

However you got there, all three Main Events are part of the same Sunday story.

Second Mortgage Week Hits Its Highest Gear

Then there is the part of the schedule for anyone who thinks a $2,650 Main Event is a little too sensible.

Second Mortgage Week is already underway. Across five playing days, the promotion features 10 Nosebleed Stakes tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $5,200 to $25,500, mixing No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha across 6-max and 8-max formats.

Sunday is the peak. The $25,500 NLH 8-Max is the largest buy-in of the entire promotion, and it is paired with a $5,200 NLH 8-Max later in the day. That puts the most expensive tournament of Second Mortgage Week on the exact same Sunday as the final flights of the two biggest OSS XL Main Events.

For the high-stakes crowd, that creates a very different kind of scheduling problem. The question is not whether there is a big event to play. It is which one gets the first bullet.

Second Mortgage Week then wraps up Monday, September 28 with a $15,400 NLH 8-Max and a $5,200 NLH 6-Max R/A, so the nosebleed action runs almost all the way to the end of the series.

There Is Plenty to Play Below the Nosebleeds

The final Sunday is not only built for five-figure bankrolls.

The current OSS XL schedule also includes a $750,000 guaranteed tournament with a $630 buy-in, a $300,000 GTD Sunday Moneymaker at $109, the $75,000 GTD Sunday Splash and the $150,000 GTD Sunday Smash. Elsewhere in the lobby, buy-ins start at just $1.65.

That range is what makes September 27 more interesting than a Sunday built around one giant headline event. You can chase the Main Event, take a shot at the $750K guarantee, load up on PKOs and Mystery Bounties, find Omaha options later in the day or build a much smaller schedule around the low and micro buy-ins.

In other words, the top of the lobby may be doing ridiculous things, but you do not need a Second Mortgage Week bankroll to have a full OSS XL Sunday.

One More Big Sunday to Make a Leaderboard Move

Every cash can matter a little more this late in the series.

The OSS XL Leaderboard Competition is putting more than $60,000 in added cash and tournament tickets across three divisions: High, Medium and Low. The High leaderboard covers buy-ins of $104.50 and above, Medium runs from $16.50 to $88, and Low is for events under $15.

First place pays $15,000 in the High standings, $7,500 in Medium and $4,000 in Low. Only in-the-money finishes in OSS XL events earn points, with the formula factoring in both finishing position and prize-pool size.

By September 27, there is very little runway left. That makes a packed Sunday schedule especially useful if you are already somewhere in the race. A deep run can do more than add another tournament payout; it can also change where you finish when the leaderboard closes.

And because Sunday’s schedule stretches across all three buy-in bands, the final push is not reserved for the high rollers.

The Finish Line Comes Tuesday

After September 27, the OSS XL moves quickly toward the finish.

Monday brings Day 2 of the $2,650 and $1,050 Main Events along with the final pair of Second Mortgage Week tournaments. Tuesday, September 29 is the last day of the series and the scheduled final-table date for both of the biggest Main Events.

That gives the last Sunday a different feel from the earlier weekends. There is no next big Sunday to save something for. The biggest Main Event flights are closing, the nosebleeds are peaking, the leaderboard clock is almost out and the series itself is entering its final two days.

If you are going to make one more serious run at the OSS XL, September 27 gives you plenty of ways to do it.
